2022 Annual Meeting and Workshop

All Suzuki Association of Indiana members are invited to attend our annual meeting and special workshop with guest clinician Bridget Jankowski. We will be having our meeting online, and we excited to host a fantastic guest presenter and invite workshop attendees from our wider community of teachers, parents, and students.

During the morning meeting on Zoom, our SAI members will have a chance to introduce themselves, listen to reports from the officers of the board, and discuss new business. This is a time packed with information and ideas, and we would love to have as many of our members joining us as possible to help give input on the decisions we are making to grow as an organization.

In the afternoon, we are privileged to welcome a guest clinician, Bridget Jankowski, who will be leading a workshop on “Introduction to Body Mapping for Musicians.” All teachers and parents are invited to join us for this workshop. If you are a teacher or parent in Indiana and would like to start or renew your membership for the upcoming year, you can register for the workshop using the form on this page: 2022 Membership Registration.

If you are not in the Indiana Suzuki community, you can register for just the workshop with Bridget Jankowski here: Special Workshop Registration. The workshop will be limited to 100 participants, and the Zoom link will be sent to you during the week before the meeting.

Topic: Introduction to Body Mapping for Musicians

Body Mapping is a foundation for technique. It focuses on the movements musicians use to create music. When musicians move easily, they play easily. The body map is a map of the body that exists in the brain and governs movement. Free and easy movement is dependent on the body map being accurate and adequate.

After a brief introduction and a few movement explorations, we will map the six places of balance which allow for free movement in any direction. Participants will be encouraged to explore all movements with their instrument. Suggestions for incorporating these concepts into your teaching will also be included. After plenty of time for questions, we will map the arm structure if time permits.
Notes: To make the most of this workshop, please have your instrument available. Also wear comfortable clothing that will allow for movement.
