Emily J. Thompson has a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Bowling Green State University, where she studied with Vasile Beluska and Penny Thompson Kruse, and a Master of Music degree from Indiana University in Early Music (baroque violin), where she studied with Stanley Ritchie and Brenda Brenner. She studied violin pedagogy with Mimi Zweig at the Indiana University String Academy, and took her SAA Teacher Training levels with Doris Preucil, Christie Felsing, and Edward Kreitman.

Emily is a professional orchestral, chamber, and solo violinist.  She is the principal second violin in the Symphony of the Lakes, and performs regularly with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. She  has a thriving wedding and event business as a solo violinist and with her chamber ensemble, Evermore. Emily performed in Carnegie Hall in 2012 with the ensemble Soprani Compagni. She also plays baroque violin, and has performed with the Fort Wayne Bach Collegium.
